MGM is getting wet with "Hot Tub Time Machine," a comedy project from scribe Josh Heald.

Former New Line exec Matt Moore will serve as a producer on the project.

"Hot Tub" follows a group of guys, adults who used to be cads back in their heyday, who, after a night of vodka and Red Bulls in a hot tub, travel back in time and set out to rediscover their "mojo."

"We're always looking for ways to stand out from the rest of the pack in today's crowded marketplace, and what better way than to combine hot tub debauchery and the complications of time travel," said MGM exec vp production Cale Boyter, who will oversee the project along with the company's Becky Sloviter.

Boyter, who had been with New Line for 10 years, worked at the company with Moore, who during his tenure oversaw such projects as "All About the Benjamins" and "Next Friday" as well as the "Final Destination" franchise. It was at New Line that Moore established a relationship with Heald, who wrote "All You Can Eat" for the studio. "Eat" now is at Rogue.

Heald, repped by Paradigm and Mason Novick of MXN, is writing "Mardi Gras" for Screen Gems. The comedy begins production May 19 with Phil Dornfeld at the helm.
