James Cameron LOVES 3D

According to a press release, Vince Pace, one of the thought leader’s in 3D entertainment, will be joined by legendary filmmaker and partner, James Cameron, to participate in two 3D panels being held today at The American Pavilion during this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

The two innovators of the PACE/Cameron Fusion 3D system and world renown leaders in 3D production will participate in the “New Dimensions For 3D” panel and the “New Technology Driving Digital 3D” panel via Skype video call from the Los Angeles production stage of James Cameron’s feature film “Avatar” where Paceis currently serving as Director of Photography.

“New Dimensions For 3D: How Digital 3D Will Shape Movie Production and Distribution During the Next 20 Years” will explore production, distribution, finance and the impact on exhibition. “New Technology Driving Digital 3D” will be a special seminar on how new tools are emerging to adapt for the new 3D cinema experience. Issues to be discussed include camera systems, editing equipment, computer servers, special effects, anti-piracy software and more.

Pace and Cameron have been working together since 1988 on the production of
The Abyss. In 2001 Cameron came to Pace with the desire to build “the holy
grail” of cameras. The challenge was to design a stereoscopic acquisition
system that would reinvent the entertainment experience by providing imagery
that mimics the human experience. The two thought leaders accomplished this
feat by throwing out the mathematics that previously drove and hindered 3D
production; replacing it with the creatively driven tool known today as the
first camera in the Fusion System line - blurring the line between having
seen it and having been there.

James Cameron is on track to once again revolutionize the industry with the
release of AVATAR in 2009. This release is expected to be the turning point
for 3D. AVATAR will be the first feature film release from Mr. Cameron since
the monumental release of Titanic, which remains the highest grossing film
to date. AVATAR is in production utilizing the revolutionary Fusion systems.

With credits such as Director of Photography on AVATAR, Executive Producer
on Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both World’s Concert film and
holding his full time position as CEO of PACE, Vince Pace continues to push
entertainment boundaries to new levels. In the last several years, Vince has
led PACE to tremendous success with Fusion 3D credits on virtually every
noteworthy 3D production to date. PACE credits include groundbreaking
projects such as “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds,” “U23D”
and “Journey to the Center of the Earth." PACE has also, nearly
single-handedly, blazed the trail for the new genre of 3D sports exhibition
as the only company with three live 3D broadcasts utilizing dynamic systems
via fiber and satellite links. All three events partnered with the NBA.
